Our primary focus is to support both job creation & job training in Ukraine. In the US, we partner with tech corporations to create the jobs & offer training. In Ukraine, we partner with organizations that identify communities of potential tech talent, including pipelines of University engineering programs, English-language proficiency programs and Veteran re-skill tech training… across diverse constituencies, including people with disabilities.
Environment | Water | New Jobs
The war in Ukraine has created an environmental catastrophe country-wide, most recently and vividly with the bombing of the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Dam. Thousands of people were displaced, losing their jobs, by the flooding, which will also have long-lasting effects on clean water, ecosystems, cities and the economy. The floodwaters bore pesticides, chemicals, oil, dead animals/fish… pollutants for which clean-up will take years. Tech-Ukraine will invest in new jobs to address this challenge.
Agriculture | Landmine Removal | New Jobs
As the world’s 5th largest producer, Ukraine has depended upon wheat as the foundation of their economy for thousands of years. Until the war, Ukraine supplied wheat, barley, maize and sunflower oil valued at $5.1b to Egypt, Indonesia, Türkiye, Pakistan, and Bangladesh as primary destinations. Now, as a result of the war, invaders have placed landmines in Ukrainian fields, inhibiting not only agriculture, but also dairy production, as grazing land is also unsafe. Tragically, over one-fifth of Ukraine is mined, 25 million hectares, an area the size of the U.K. It will take tremendous investment over many years to return this land to safety and economic productivity. Tech-Ukraine will invest in new jobs to address this challenge.
